The future looks very bleak for many small and medium-sized colleges and universities in the U.S. According to a report published in Inside Higher Education, the high school graduation rate is expected to drop over the next seven years, and the numbers are aggravated by up to 4.5 million fewer babies being born since the financial crisis of 2008.

The Oxford dictionary defines leadership as the action of leading a group of people, an organization, or a team. However, leadership is much more than that. It is a quality that is necessary to influence others to achieve extraordinary results and to push themselves beyond their limits. Anyone can manage, but not everyone can lead. It takes resilience and energy, dedication and experience. Leadership is a quality best acquired through consistency, perseverance, and observation, not simple dictation.
